Fun First Day Of Spring Roller Skating!

Spring is sprung and many of you are in a festive mood. No need to let that go to waste. Why not have some fun roller skating? There's nothing like the feeling of gliding along, feeling the wind as your hair comes free and you smell the greenery of the springtime. Specifically we're going here: oh yeah baby!

Are you looking for something to do today? There is a certain time of the year where people begin to feel like they need some fun adventure. That might be spring time, or fall. There are many things you can do outdoors or indoors whenever you feel this way, but let’s take a look at what you can do today with the first day of spring.

Spring has sprung, and the weather is just right for taking your family to the roller rink! Roller skating is a fun way to exercise and such a great opportunity to spend time with the family.

Here are some tips to make your next trip to the roller rink more enjoyable:

1. Make sure you have the right gear. This includes proper fitting skates (these can be rented at the rink), socks, helmet, knee pads and elbow pads for kids under 13 years old. These items may be available for purchase or rent at the rink.

2. Be sure to warm up before starting any activity! You can do some light stretching, even at your desk if you’re short on time.

3. Get out there on the floor and have fun! Remember: it’s OK to fall down! We learn from our mistakes and falling is part of that process. Let your kids know that it’s OK if they fall down while they are learning how to skate.

Don't have a roller rink in your town? Consider bringing the fun to your neighborhood by setting up some pylons and cones to mark off a course for your neighborhood kids to skate around. It's fun, easy and can be done with minimal effort.

Just make sure you're following these safety tips so everyone enjoys their day of skating:

Dress for safety: Make sure all skaters are wearing helmets, wrist guards, knee pads and elbow pads. These are all important safety accessories that will help keep you safe while skating.

Warm-up: Before skating, make sure you do stretches and warm-ups to reduce the risk of injury. Stretching muscles before using them will reduce the likelihood of muscle strain or another type of injury.

Stay hydrated: Don't forget to drink plenty of water throughout your skating session. This will help prevent dehydration and will help keep you from feeling hungry during your skate session.

Keep going: Skating is just like any other exercise; the more you do it, the easier it gets.

If spring time and roller skating go hand in hand, then that's one thing that you and your kids can do to celebrate the arrival of spring. By learning the basics of roller skating, you'll be able to show your kids how to keep their balance and make sure they stay safe. If you're new to roller skating yourself, there are plenty of classes or lessons that you can take. For example, skating rinks have instructional classes throughout the year so you can learn the basics before taking your little ones on the rink.
